Here is a brief summary of my musical background:


I studied jazz piano at Birmingham Conservatoire with the

excellent British Jazz pianist Liam Noble.

Previous to University in my teens I was lucky enough to have studied

with Mark Lockett. in my home town of Wirksworth.

Other tutors have included Hans Koller, Mike Williams, Pete Saberton ,

John Taylor and Steve Melling.


Whilst at university I was lucky to have been included in a

series of Big Band concerts with the excellent jazz composer

Mike Gibbs whilst at university.

I was also fortunate enough to be tutored in an ensemble

by artist in residence at Birmingham Conservatoire Bassist Dave Holland

and performed as part of a concert programme.

I graduated in 2010 with a first class honours degree in Jazz studies.


Since studying I’ve been honoured to have with many of the U.K.’s

best jazz musicians and have played some at of the countries

established jazz clubs, festivals, concerts and studios.

Places I’ve played include the 606 Club, Matt and Phred’s,

Mostly Jazz Festival Birmingham, Manchester Jazz Festival and

Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Peer Hat, Birmingham Jazzlines,

Jazz steps Nottingham, Derby Jazz and many others.


I have also worked on commissioned music both privately and for Arts organisations.


I am currently working as a performing musician, dividing my time

between gigging, teaching and developing my skills as a jazz pianist and composer.


My Background is in Jazz and improvisation but I have a formal music training

and I am familiar with a variety of styles contexts.
